Biosphere

Designed by BIG, Bjarke Ingels Group

Biosphere amplifies Treehotel's focus on sustainability and natural tourism, helping facilitate the conservation of the local bird population. With a façade containing 350 bird nests, Treehotel aims to decrease the downward spiral of the bird population in the Swedish woods and instead strengthen the biosphere and natural habitat.

The interior is simple and pragmatic, yet due to its checker solid-open conceptual make-up, allows for a range of experiences within a relatively small space. Visitors will during our snow free months have access to a roof terrace - close to the treetop canopies - that offer a 360-degree views of the forest.

Through wrapping the new hotel room in an ecological habitat, guests are provided the opportunity to experience birdlife in close proximity, finding themselves in the epicenter of nature.

Biosphere is accessed via a suspended bridge that slopes from the ground to the top of the trees. The interior of the 34m2 hotel room incorporates rich dark interiors and organic materials inspired by the surrounding landscape, which further serve to reinforce the visitors' view outwards and to focus on the natural beauty of the surroundings.

As all of the Treehotel tree rooms Biosphere has incinerating toilet and our sustainable Rukkamoinika water system with 3 litres of water for washing your hands.

Biosphere also has an eco shower, sauna and tap water.

Access to the sleep loft by ladder.

Biosphere was designed by the Danish Bjarke Ingels Group, BIG.

The hotel room Biosphere is the latest addition to Treehotel. The 34m2 Biosphere is designed to attract wildlife and for guests to be fully immersed in the surrounding forest. The room will be open for visitors in June, 2022.

Mirrorcube

Image

The Mirrorcube

The Mirrorcube is an exciting hide-out among the trees, camouflaged by mirrored walls reflecting their surroundings.

The base consists of an aluminum frame around the tree trunk and the walls are covered with reflective glass.

Bird’s nest

Image

Bird’s nest

The Bird’s nest is built on the contrasts between the outside and inside.

The treeroom’s exterior is nothing but a gigantic bird’s nest. It gives a camouflage so you quickly disappear and become part of the surroundings.

The Cabin

Image

The Cabin

This treeroom’s location was based on the idea of creating a platform high up on a sharp hillside overlooking the Lule River valley.

You can reach the hut from here via a horizontal bridge among the trees. At the front of the bridge is a large wooden deck.

7th room

7th room

As you near the seventh room from below and look up at the sky, the entire underside of the building is covered by a life size photograph of the treetops as they looked before the room was put in place.

This clever camouflage piques one’s curiosity. What is hiding up there?

The Ufo

Image

The Ufo

While working on the Bird’s Nest, which is largely in harmony with its surroundings, the idea of creating an entirely different environment was born.

And what could be more different than an UFO?

Dragonfly

Dragonfly

With its 52 square metres and 22 metric tonnes, the Dragonfly is our second-largest room.

Unique in many ways, this room can function both as a conference space as well as private suite.

The Blue Cone

The Blue Cone

The Blue Cone is based on simplicity and accessibility, both in terms of material and design.

The room is a traditional wooden structure with three foundations in the ground to give a sense of height and lightness, but also stability.
